Police: Man Shot By Officer After Lunging With Knife In Bushwick, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was shot and wounded by police in Bushwick, Brooklyn Wednesday night, after he allegedly lunged with a knife at officers who had been called for a domestic dispute.
Around 8 p.m., two uniformed officers from the 83rd Precinct were called to a residence on Hancock Street in Brooklyn, for reports of a woman being assaulted.
When officers arrived at the scene, the 26-year-old man lunged at them with knife in hand, police said.
One of the officers fired his gun at the man, striking him once at the torso, police said.
The suspect was taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.
The officer was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was treated for tinnitus, police said.
The investigation continued late Wednesday.
