Police: Man Robbed, Bit Woman At Chase Bank ATM In Paterson, NJ
PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for the man caught on surveillance video attacking and robbing woman withdrawing money from an ATM in Paterson, New Jersey.
Around 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, the woman was conducting a bank transaction inside the ATM vestibule of a Chase Bank at 148 Market St. in Paterson, police said.
The video shows the woman stopping to let the man into the vestibule, and he appears to talk on a cellphone as he waits.
But after the woman completes her transaction and another customer leaves, the man is seen grabbing the woman -- in an attempt to take the money she was holding in her right hand.
After a brief struggle, the suspect bit the woman's right hand, drawing blood and causing her to open her hand because of pain.
The suspect then took the money from the woman and ran off, police said.
Paterson police were asking for help Monday in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at (973) 321-1120 or (973) 523-TIPS.
