Police: Man Made Purchase Of Nearly $500 With Stolen Credit Card

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Monday were asking for assistance in finding a suspect who allegedly stole another man's credit card and made a purchase worth nearly $500 at a Home Depot in the Bronx.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, the suspect walked into the Home Depot at 2560 Bruckner Blvd. in the Bronx, and used the 37-year-old victim's stolen credit card to make a purchase worth $498.62, police said.

The suspect then tried to use the victim's credit card to buy MetroCards at the Hunts Point Avenue No. 6 train station, but was unsuccessful, police said.

The suspect was described as a man with brown eyes and brown hair. Police released two photos.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
