Police: Man Exposed Himself To 3 Girls Under Age 15 In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking the public to help them find a suspect who allegedly exposed himself to three girls – all under the age of 15 – in southern Brooklyn this week.
The incidents all happened within a period of 15 minutes Monday morning in the Gravesend and Bensonhurst sections of Brooklyn.
Around 7:25 a.m. Monday, the suspect got out of his vehicle and came up to an 11-year-old girl at the corner of West 9th Street and Avenue O in Brooklyn, police said. He began chatting with the girl and then exposed his genitals before running off, police said.
Just five minutes later, the suspect got out of his vehicle and followed a 14-year-old girl into her friend's apartment building near West 7th Street and Bay Parkway in Brooklyn, police said. Inside, he tried to chat with the girl and exposed his genitals, police said. He ran off up the stairs of a building.
And 10 minutes after that, the suspect once again got out of his vehicle at West 6th Street and 65th Street in Brooklyn, police said. He came up to a 13-year-old girl walking down the street, tried to chat with her, and once again exposed his genitals, police said.
The suspect was described as a heavy-set Hispanic male in his 30s, with a thin beard, and a pockmarked face, last seen wearing a gray jacket and black boots.
He was last seen driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck with two undescribed bumper stickers on the back. The vehicle had possible damage to the rear passenger light and tail body, police said.
Police have released a surveillance video of the vehicle.
The incident has many people in the community on edge.
"You never know, he might grab you and pull you inside his truck. That's really gross," 14-year-old Mariah Ferguson told CBS 2's Weijia Jiang.
"I think that's a disgrace. Why would you show yourself and feel comfortable about it? And then these little girls, you're traumatizing their lives. It's just disgusting," said 13-year-old Cassidy Mendoza.
"I feel disturbed. Why does he choose teenagers?" said 13-year-old Dayna Holden.
"Police have to find him and take him because it's dangerous for everybody, not just kids, everybody," said parent Cindy Rodriguez.
Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
