Police: Long Island Man Busted After 49 License Suspensions Since 1986

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Medford, Long Island man was arrested Thursday, after police said they found his driver's license had been suspended or revoked 49 different times.

At 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Suffolk County police Fifth Precinct Officer Paul Rocchio was patrolling in Medford when he saw John Auteri fail to signal as he turned into the parking lot of 580 Route 112 in his 2007 Chrysler, police said.

Rocchio pulled over Auteri, and found out about the license suspensions and revocations, which had happened on at least 20 different dates as far back as 1986, police said.

Auteri, 48, of Pitchpine Place in Medford, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said. He was scheduled for arraignment at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
