TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey State Police have launched a ticket blitz on Interstate 95.
In the I-95 Challenge, an increased number of police patrols are on the prowl on the interstate, looking for speeders and people without seat belts.
Drivers who are holding their cellphones to text, talk or surf the Web will also be targeted.
The effort runs through Sunday, and is an attempt to decrease traffic crashes resulting in injuries and deaths.
Interstate 95 runs in two sections in New Jersey. One is along the New Jersey Turnpike from Exit 7A to the George Washington Bridge, the other from Route 1 in Mercer County to the Pennsylvania State Line.
