NYPD: Man With Knife Shot In Leg By Police In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect was taken to the hospital following a police-involved shooting in the Bronx early Wednesday morning.
According to officials, two officers chased Carlos Colon, 25, up to the 7th floor of a building at the Throgs Neck Houses after he fled from police.
When they caught up with Colon, he was carrying a knife and was threatening to hurt himself, officials said.
Officials say police tased Colon to subdue him, then shot Colon in the upper thigh when he threatened the officers with the knife and refused to drop his weapon.
Colon had to be tased a second time after he continued to wield his weapon after being shot.
Colon was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.
According to officials, the NYPD had been called to the area after receiving intelligence of possible "crew-related violence" in the area earlier on, so police were already on scene, 1010 WINS Glenn Schuck reported.
The officers were taken to a local hospital for observation.
