Police Arrest One Of Two Suspects Who Allegedly Sexually Assaulted Woman Within An Hour
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested one of two suspects who allegedly sexually assaulted the same victim within a period of an hour in Brooklyn.
The assaults both took place between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, police said.
According to authorities, 17-year-old Nicholas Issac approached the victim on Gates Avenue in Clinton Hill at around 5 a.m. and sexually assaulted her, CBS 2 reported. Issac allegedly threatened the use of the gun but did not display one.
The victim was sexually assaulted again about an hour later by a second man as she walked on Irving Place. In that incident, police said the suspect pushed her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her. Like the first suspect, the second man threatened the use of a gun, but did not display one, police said.
Police have also released surveillance video of the suspect in the second incident, who police said remains at large.
Residents in the area told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern they feel comfortable walking at night, up to a point.
"A lot of times if you're walking down the block and it's really dark you don't feel too safe," one woman said. "My girlfriend used to tell me to walk in the middle of the street. She used to work late."
The second suspect is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall and weighed 170 pounds, police said.
Issac, of Brooklyn, is charged with robbery, criminal sex act, unlawful imprisonment, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
