Police Arrest Man In Violent Great Neck Robbery

GREAT NECK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a violent robbery on Long Island.

Daniel Ratliff, 36, of Bay Shore is accused of pretending to be a florist deliveryman to rob a 34-year-old man at an apartment in Great Neck on June 10, authorities said.

Ratcliff used a stun gun on the victim and then hit him on the head with a vase, knocking him to the ground, police said.

Ratcliff then bound the victim's hands and feet before breaking open a locked safe and fleeing with money, diamond jewelry and a passport, police said.

Ratcliff was arrested Thursday and charged with robbery, burglary, grand larceny and weapon possession. He is expected to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

The victim received hospital treatment for facial fractures and head trauma.
