Police Arrest Man After Long Island Wall Is Covered With Graffiti

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island said Wednesday that they have found the man who spray-painted graffiti using the name "Timothy of the Seven Seas."

Timothy Saunders, 23, of Calverton, was accused in an incident Feb. 14 or 15, in which he allegedly covered a wall on Surf Avenue in Port Jefferson, near the entrance to the Setauket Yacht Club, with graffiti, Suffolk County police said.

The graffiti included the tag "Timothy of the Seven Seas," police said.

Police tracked down Saunders after county Gang Unit officers received a tip from the Port Jefferson Village Constable and conducted an investigation, police said.

Saunders was carrying oxycodone and hydrocodone when he was arrested around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday in Coram, police said.

He was charged with making graffiti and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

An Instagram account is registered to the handle "Timothy of the Seven Seas," with Long Island as its location, but it had no photos as of Wednesday night.

Saunders made his initial court appearance Wednesday in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.
