Police Arrest 3, Find Stashes Of Dirt Bikes, Guns And Heroin In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Information from a man who had been stopped for allegedly riding an all-terrain vehicle on the sidewalk led police to a locker full of ATVs, dirt bikes and loaded guns – and a separate stash of heroin and cash – in Brooklyn this week.
Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police executed a search warrant at Lockaway Self Storage at 1 Carlton Ave. in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. They had obtained the warrant based on information from the suspect riding the AT on the sidewalk at an unspecified location, police said.
In a storage locker at the Fort Greene facility, police found four loaded firearms, and 14 ATVs and dirt bikes, the NYPD said.
Police also executed a search warrant on a 2007 Nissan Altima, which allegedly had a hidden trap with 500 glassines of heroin and $8,000, police said.
Three suspects – Edwin Rodriguez, 22; Noel Tavarez, 26; and Pablo Soto, 21 – all of Brooklyn were arrested in the case. All were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.
The guns recovered included a .32-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with six rounds of ammunition, a .25-caliber semi-automatic Tanfoglio Giuseppe with five rounds of ammunition, a .38-caliber Intratec with two rounds of ammunition, and a 9mm Hi-Point semi-automatic with a magazine with eight rounds of ammunition, police said.
