Police: Ambulette Strikes, Kills Bicyclist In Flushing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by a private ambulette in Flushing, Queens, on Wednesday morning, police said.

The victim -- a man in his 60s -- was riding northbound on Parsons Boulevard around 9:50 a.m. and made a left turn onto 37th Avenue before he was hit by the ambulette, which was traveling south on Parsons, police said.

The man was rushed to New York Hospital Queens, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police are not releasing the victim's name until his family has been notified.

The NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
