Police: 3 Arrested Following Police Chase May Be Behind More Robberies In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A police chase following a robbery in Flushing, Queens overnight ended in a fiery crash and with three people under arrest.
As 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reported, police received a 911 call of a reported robbery and raced over to a 7-Eleven at 172nd Street and Northern Boulevard. The officers arrived just as the suspects were leaving.
The officers gave chase as the 2014 Nissan Altima sped away with items, including a wallet from one of the store clerks, being thrown out of the window, Papa reported.
The Altima then smashed into a pole and burst into flames.
The three men inside the vehicle were arrested.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said the trio may have been behind other robberies.
"We now believe that they may have been involved in as many as three or four similar robberies," he said.
It appears the shotgun found inside the car is linked to similar crimes in Queens, Papa reported.
Bratton praised the officers following the arrests.
