Playoff Hopes High As Jets Fans Celebrate Big Victory Over Patriots

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- They call it "Fitz-magic" and it might be real -- the Jets won their 5th straight game led by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday against the New England Patriots, edging the team even closer to the playoffs.

After the game, Jets fans were ready to celebrate the big win against the Patriots, coming out in full force in support of their team.

In Hells Kitchen, Jets fans and Patriots fans sat side-by-side at a local sports bar, sharing the action of the action-packed game, which ended in overtime, CBS2's Valerie Castro reported.

"I got Jets season tickets, I couldn't make it to the game today because my daughter made me late, so I came to the bar to watch and I'm happy we won, so awesome," Brian Simpson, of Brooklyn, said.

After the Patriots forced overtime, the Jets took the ball 80 yards down the field and capped off with a game-winning touchdown to Eric Decker. The win, combined with a loss from the Steelers, puts the Jets' destiny in their own hands -- with a shot at the playoffs if they win next week.

"That was a great win for us, we needed that, this was our Superbowl but we can still make the playoffs with one more win and we're going to go all the way," Kenneth James, of Brooklyn, said.
