Residents Say They Are Up In Arms Over Wild Parties At Pearl River, N.Y. Mansion

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- There is trouble at a mansion in a posh Rockland County neighborhood.

Neighbors say it has become the scene of wild parties and more -- and they want it to stop, CBS2's Christine Sloan reported Friday.

Manicured lawns and mansions -- this particular Pearl River neighborhood is just exquisite.

But residents told Sloan there's a problem with one house.

"Naked girls," resident Susan Murphy said, when asked what she's seen. "They're showing their you-know-what all over the cars."

Sloan got to see pictures taken by neighbors of the mansion at 7 O'Grady Court.

"A lot of partying ... A lot of drinking ... A lot of cars. When I wanted to get in the street I couldn't because there was so many cars. Weddings ... Buses coming in, dropping people off. It's crazy, it's crazy," Murphy said.

Residents said the owner of the house -- who they know as "George" -- doesn't live in the mansion. However, CBS2 found the house advertised on Airbnb for parties, weddings and film shoots.

A lawyer hired by fed-up neighbors said the street the mansion isn't zoned for commercial activities.

"This is primarily a residential neighborhood. This is not permitted. This really is a motel or a hotel," attorney Donald Brenner said.

Sloan was unable to get comment from the owner of the house, whose name was obtained. His actual address is listed in Suffern, New York, and if you look online, the owner has events planned this weekend. Town officials said they want to put an end to the disturbances.

Sloan: "What is the exact action the town is taking?"

Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart: "We've issued a notice of violation. They're contesting it and we're taking them to court."

"I don't feel safe. It's just a bunch of random people every weekend," resident Fiona Murphy said.

"I want my kids to feel safe where they live. My daughter was out walking her dog the other day and they made comments to her," Susan Murphy said.

Neighbors said they hope the town's actions will finally end the partying that's been going on for a year.

Residents said they also want the town to upgrade penalties for violating zoning ordinances.
