PATH Service Restored To Normal After Saturday Morning Derailment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - The Port Authority says PATH service is back to normal after earlier delays caused by a work train derailment.

The authority says there were no injuries resulting from the derailment Saturday morning.

Earlier Saturday, PATH trains were running every 30 minutes with delays to and from the 33rd Street station in Manhattan.

A Port Authority spokesman says the derailed car has been removed and service is back to normal.

The Port Authority had reopened one of the PATH tunnels between Newark and the World Trade Center to make up for the loss of service. That tunnel will be operational for the rest of the weekend.

Service also resumed Wednesday morning between Hoboken and 33rd Street and Journal Square and 33rd Street after it was suspended Tuesday because of smoky conditions.

Rail service was initially disrupted after a fire broke out Sunday in a PATH tunnel in Manhattan and damaged the system's power supply.
