Officials: Man fatally shot by police in Paterson

New Jersey AG's office investigating fatal police-involved shooting

PATERSON, N.J. -- A man was fatally shot by police in Paterson on Friday, the New Jersey Attorney General's office says.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. near Mill and Ellison streets.

Details on what led up to the shooting have not yet been released, but the Attorney General's office says a man was wounded and taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man's identity is not being released at this time.

The Attorney General's office is investigating.
