Parents Furious When Son Is Left At Convenience Store After Falling Ill On Class Trip

FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) --  A Long Island high school student was left at a convenience store after becoming sick on a class trip.

The boy's family said Frank Carey High School chaperones left their 16-year-old son at a mini-mart after he threw up on the bus.

He became ill shortly after the bus left the Franklin Square school.

His mother said chaperones called her and said they were leaving him behind with a gas station attendant.

Parents were outraged.

"You trust the teachers and the principals, you entrust them to take care of your children when you're not there and then to leave them at a rest stop is ridiculous," one woman said.

The school superintendent said a new field trip manual is going to be given to staff and parents.
