Sources: Investigators believe Orsolya Gaal knew her killer, looking into past relationships
NEW YORK - There's new information in the murder of a mother in Queens whose body was found stuffed in a duffel bag.
High-ranking police sources tell CBS2 are now exploring the victim's relationship with several men.
The NYPD is offering a reward of $3,500 for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in connection with her death.
As CBS2's Ali Bauman reports, flower bouquets are splayed just behind crime scene tape outside the Forest Hills home where investigators believe Gaal took her final breath.
The 51-year-old mother of two was found stuffed in a duffel bag Saturday morning on the side of the road several blocks from her home. Police say her body had at least 50 stab wounds.
Tuesday, CBS2's Kiran Dhillon spoke to the family electrician who dropped by the family home to drop off flowers and mourn. He's horrified by Gaal's death.
"Every time I work here they treat me like family. A very nice family," said Arrjuna Jack. "Who would want to hurt her? She was a very nice lady."
Sources tell CBS2 investigators are now probing the victim's possible romantic link to at least one person based on her electronic communications with him and further examining her relationships with several men.
Gaal's husband and eldest son were out of state when she was killed. Her 13-year-old son was home at the time, but police have ruled him out as a suspect.
"It's such a violent end to a life that still had so much life to live," one neighbor said.
Sources say Gaal went to show at Lincoln Center with girlfriends on Friday night. She returned to Queens alone and waited in her neighborhood bar for about 40 minutes before taking herself home.
Investigators believe the killer entered Gaal's home through a back door. There's no indication of forced entry, which leads police to suspect Gaal knew her attacker.
"She wasn't treated with any kind of respect or any dignity in her death and that, that I would like to see justice for," a neighbor said.
Police have yet to release a possible motive for this attack.
