Car Crashes After Fleeing Police In Brooklyn; 1 Dead

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man was killed Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to evade a traffic stop and outrun police in Brooklyn.

Around noon Wednesday, the 22-year-old victim crashed his 2003 Infiniti into a flatbed truck, as he got off the eastbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway at Atlantic Avenue and Hicks Street, police said.

The truck was stopped at a red light at the time, police said.

The, identified as Leroy Samuel of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police told CBS 2 the suspect was fleeing a traffic stop when he hit the flatbed.

A 22-year-old woman in the car with Samuel was taken to Bellevue Hospital after complaining of neck and back pain, police said. Her condition was reported as stable.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating late Wednesday.
