Officials: No Damage Found After Cargo Ship Clips Brooklyn Bridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Brooklyn Bridge has reopened to traffic following some anxious moments overnight after a cargo ship clipped the span.

Police said the Rainbow Quest vessel was cruising the East River when its mast struck the bottom of the bridge at around 11 p.m. Friday, CBS2 reported.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Ali Flockerzi said the the Metropolitan Transportation Authority had already scheduled a routine closure on the bridge late Friday and inspected the span when it was closed.

The Department of Transportation found no damage to the bridge and no one was injured, 1010 WINS reported.
