NYPD Officers Make First Arrest With Help Of New Tablets
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The latest in technology led NYPD officers to an arrest involving a stolen cellphone.
With the help of an app on the tablet, the officers pinged a stolen phone and were able to make immediate arrests.
The tablets were installed in patrol cars at the 34th precinct just last week, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reports.
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton says 6,000 patrol cars should have these devices by 2016.
"They were excited and happy about it," Bratton said. "The individual that got robbed was very excited and happy about it and as police commissioner I was ecstatic."
