NYPD: 1 in custody following stabbing on subway on Upper East Side
NEW YORK -- Police made an arrest after a man was stabbed on board a No. 4 train on the Upper East Side on Monday afternoon.
It happened just before 4:30 p.m. at the 86th Street/Lexington Avenue station.
Police said the suspect stabbed the 37-year-old victim in the neck following an argument.
Subway riders told CBS New York they're fed up with the violence.
"It has gotten to a point now that I'm thinking of leaving New York City and moving somewhere upstate where it's safer," one man said.
"I'm shocked and I'm scared. I'm scared now to take the subway," a woman added.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody at the scene. He was later identified as 23-year-old Khalil Robles, from the Bronx, and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim was taken to Cornell Medical Center and is expected to survive.
It's not clear what prompted the argument.
