NYPD: Driver Of Garbage Truck Sought In Chinatown Hit-Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search is on for the driver of a private sanitation truck that apparently struck and killed a man in Chinatown.

The incident occurred near Canal and Centre streets around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The truck was traveling eastbound on Canal Street when it struck the man and fled the scene, police said.

The 59-year-old man, who has not been identified, was found unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma about the head and body, police said. He died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
