NYPD Remembers Fallen NYPD Detective At Brooklyn Vigil

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Members of the NYPD gathered in Brooklyn overnight to remember one of their own, killed in the line of duty.

A vigil was held Friday night on Pine Street in Cypress Hills -- the scene where 47-year-old NYPD Det. Peter Figoski was shot and killed during a robbery four years ago.

Fellow officers praised Figoski for his bravery and courage.

In 2013, a bridge in West Babylon -- where Figoski lived -- was renamed in his honor.

Figoski was a 22-year veteran on the force. He left behind four daughters.

The gunman who killed Figoski, Lamont Pride, was sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.

Two other men convicted in connection with Figoski's death were also sentenced to long prison terms.

Pride's alleged getaway driver, Michael Velez, was found not guilty of first- and second-degree burglary and a fifth suspect, Ariel Tejada, testified against the others as part of a plea deal that gave him a lesser sentence.
