NYPD: Bank Robbery Suspect Strikes 5 Times In 4-Hour Spree

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released a surveillance photo of a bank robbery suspect who they said struck five different locations in less than four hours Monday.

In each incident, police said the suspect handed the teller a note demanding money, but never displayed a weapon.

The suspect got away with money at two banks, totaling about $450, but failed to get cash at three other locations, police said.

The banks, which were located in Washington Heights, the Upper West Side, Columbus Circle and the Bronx, were all hit Monday between 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, 5'9" tall and 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers. He also had a thin beard and was wearing a "Cincinnati Reds" baseball cap and a gold chain around his neck, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit to the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
