Severe storms have erupted across the Tri-State Area on Saturday afternoon, producing some damage reports in northwestern New Jersey.
We've issued a Red Alert through midnight, as more storms are likely to develop as we move into the evening hours. They will track from west to east and gradually taper off by then.

A Red Alert is in place through midnight due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, plus hot temperatures.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect or all counties, except Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster and Dutchess, until 9 p.m.
A Flood Watch is in effect until midnight for all counties, except Nassau, Suffolk, Ulster and Dutchess, until midnight.
An Air Quality Alert is in effect for New York City, Long Island, the Lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County until 11 p.m.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of the area until 7 p.m.
Looking ahead
Overall, this weekend continues the trend of hot and humid temperatures and the risk of thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.
Sunday looks similar with temperatures back into the mid 80s. So rinse and repeat -- or more like sweat and repeat!
We'll see another unsettled pattern next week, but Monday looks to be the best chance at staying dry.
