De Blasio Hopes Feds Will Help Cover Trump Security Costs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Protecting Donald Trump could cost New York City approximately $1 million a day, according to reports.

WCBS 880's Rich Lamb asked Mayor Bill de Blasio about the price tag. He wouldn't discuss specific numbers, but indicated he will be sending the bill to Washington. 

"I have been in contact with the Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson. We have begun that conversation," the mayor told Lamb. "I made clear to him how committed we are to the president-elect's security, but I also made clear to him that there's extraordinary costs involved."

De Blasio said he will be speaking with Trump's team about the security costs next week.
