Man, 22, Dies After Losing Control Of Vehicle On Northern State Parkway

DIX HILLS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 22-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his Jeep on the Northern State Parkway, officials said.

Thomas Hardy, of East Northport, was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee on the parkway east of Wolf Hill Road near the Dix Hills Road overpass around 1 p.m. Saturday.

Fire officials said Hardy lost control of the Jeep and pulled onto the center median where the vehicle struck a guardrail and flipped into a tree.

Firefighters used heavy-duty extraction tools to free Hardy and a male passenger from the vehicle.

They were taken to Huntington Hospital in Huntington, New York where Hardy was later pronounced dead. His passenger was in stable condition.
