NJ TRANSIT Train Hits, Kills Pedestrian

HAZLET, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Trains are rolling again on New Jersey TRANSIT's North Jersey Coast Line after a train struck and killed a man on the tracks.

The New York-bound train was carrying approximately 125 passengers and crew when the incident took place just west of the Hazlet station around 5:25 a.m. Tuesday.

The man's name has not been released.

NJ TRANSIT operated bus service between Red Bank and Matawan-Aberdeen because service was suspended for several hours in both directions.

Service has since resumed and trains are now running on or close to schedule.
