NJ TRANSIT Train Experiences Minor Derailment En Route To Penn Station

NEW JERSEY (CBSNewYork) -- Some NJ TRANSIT customers were stopped in their tracks Tuesday after the train they were on experienced a minor derailment.

The 3:16 p.m. train from Dover, N.J. was headed to Penn Station on the Morris/Essex line when the derailment occurred, CBS 2 reported.

Officials said the derailment affected the engine car, which was pushing the other nine cars.

Passengers that were on the train were placed on a rescue train at around 5:18 p.m., CBS 2 reported.

There were no injuries related to the incident.

Delays were reported on the line through the afternoon rush, but service had returned to normal by 9:30 p.m.
