NJ TRANSIT Pascack Valley Service Snagged After Person Is Killed By Train

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- NJ TRANSIT service on the Pascack Valley Line was suspended Wednesday evening – just as New Year's Eve celebrations were set to begin – after someone was struck and killed by a train in Hackensack.

Westbound service on the line was suspended at the Essex Street station in Hackensack due to the trespasser's death, according to NJ TRANSIT.

Train No. 1625 from Essex Street, and trains No. 1629 and 1631 from Hoboken, were all canceled.

Shuttle buses were put into use for affected passengers.

NJ TRANSIT was providing extra service for New Year's Eve and the early morning hours on New Year's Day.
