Overhead Wire Problem, Disabled Train Cause Headaches For NJ Transit Riders
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey Transit trains were experiencing delays up to 60 minutes out of Penn Station on Monday evening.
The delays were a result of an ongoing problem with Amtrak's overhead wires, and a disabled train inside of a tunnel.

One passenger told WLNY-TV that she and other riders broke out of a train.
"Three people had panic attacks and we kept pushing the emergency button and nobody was answering. We ended up prying the door open, all of us pulled it and ran off, and then everybody just piled off the train because nobody could breathe," she said, "I knew when we broke records today it would actually be delayed, because it happens in extreme cold and it happens in extreme heat."
NJ Transit bus and private carriers were honoring rail tickets and passes out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. PATH was honoring NJ Transit rail tickets and passes out of 33rd Street, Hoboken, and Newark Penn Station.
Amtrak owns the tunnel where the train got stuck. WLNY-TV reached out to Amtrak for an answer, but has not heard back.
