NJ Store Gets Bonus Check After Selling Winning Powerball Ticket

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey ShopRite got a bonus check for selling a winning Powerball lottery ticket.

Lottery officials say the ticket that was sold in the supermarket on River Street in Hackensack was the only one that matched all the numbers from Saturday's drawing worth $315 million.

The owners of the ShopRite were presented with a $30,000 check. The owner said none of the 22 stores it owns has ever sold a multi-million dollar winning lottery ticket.

"As a family-owned business in northern New Jersey, we're proud to have sold the winning lottery ticket," Lawrence Inserra said. "It's a great day for our company today."

As for their $30,000 bonus?

"We're going to donate it to the communities that we serve in this immediate area," Inserra said.

The winner of the Powerball jackpot has yet to come forward. Officials urge the winner to sign the back of the winning ticket and to make a photocopy of the front and back.  The winner has a year to claim the prize.

The winning ticket is worth $315 million if taken as an annual payment or $183 if taken as a lump sum.
