Police: 2 Rescued From Roof After Confrontation With Homeless Man In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police rescued two people in Newark Friday after a confrontation with a man in their building.

Officers from the Newark police Emergency Service Unit were called Friday afternoon to 451 Frelinghuysen Ave. in Newark, police said.

The officers found two people had taken refuge on the rooftop of the building after being confronted by a homeless man armed with a BB gun inside, police said.

The officers got the victims off the roof, police said. The victims, who are the new owners of the building, were unharmed, police said.

Police also surrounded the building with guns drawn and apprehended the suspect, police said. A BB gun was found inside the building.
