Newark School Principal Reported Missing

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey principal was reported missing this week, just days before school was set to start.

Bertha Dyer's sister in Franklin Township reported that the 68-year-old was last seen Tuesday around 3 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Elementary School in Newark, where she is principal.

Dyer had been scheduled for multiple meetings on Wednesday, for which she did not show up, police said.

A family friend was thus prompted to contact Dyer's sister about her whereabouts.

Dyer stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and drives a white 2011 Toyota 4Runner with New Jersey plates U79GXM.

Anyone with information is asked to call Franklin Township police at (732) 873-2300 or Detective Trevor Wilson at (732) 873-5533 extension 3161.
