Good Samaritan Saves Elderly Couple In 4-Alarm Newark Fire
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A good Samaritan saves an elderly couple from a four-alarm fire in Newark.
Newark firefighters said the blaze started around 9 p.m. in a home on Runyon Street and quickly spread to other buildings.
A resident that was passing by heard an elderly woman shouting for help because her husband was still upstairs.
"When I ran inside the whole kitchen was on fire," Devon Murphy told CBS2. "I put him over my shoulder and brought him downstairs."
There is no word on how the fire got started.
Twenty people were displaced.
