Car Slams Into NJ TRANSIT Bus, 2 Other Vehicles In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Several people were injured when a car collided with a NJ TRANSIT bus and two other vehicles Thursday morning.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. at Summer and Bloomfield avenues in Newark.

Police said the car first hit a No. 11 bus with 20 people on board, and then struck two other vehicles.

The bus driver and five passengers were hurt.

Police have taken one person into custody, CBS2 reported.

The intersection was shut down while police investigated the crash and crews cleaned up the debris.
