New York State Health Department Says Flu Is Now 'Prevalent'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Flu season is officially here.
The State Department of Health said the virus is now "prevalent" in New York.
That means by law, unvaccinated health care workers must wear masks while near patients, CBS2 reported.
The Health Department said while this year's flu vaccine is not as effective as past years it's still recommending anyone older that 6-months-old be vaccinated.
"Flu shots are a safe and effective way to reduce your risk for infection during flu season and I urge all New Yorkers to get one," said Acting New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker.
