New York state Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett announces resignation
NEW YORK -- New York state's health commissioner suddenly resigned Friday.
Dr. Mary Bassett says she'll leave by the end of the year.
Bassett says it was a difficult decision, but she plans to return to the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.
She was also New York City's health commissioner for four years.
