NEW YORK -- Polls have closed in New York's Democratic primary elections.

Early voting wrapped up over the weekend, and the Board of Elections said more than 46,000 people checked in at polling sites across Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens. There are no primary elections on Staten Island. 

When is the New York primary election and what time do polls open?

Primary Election Day in New York was Tuesday, June 25.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. and closed at 9 p.m. Anyone who was in line by 9 p.m. was allowed to cast their vote.

New Yorkers can find their polling locations by entering their address and zip code at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov.  

What's on the ballot in the New York primary election?

New York voters cast ballots in some key races, including the heated race between Democrats Rep. Jamaal Bowman and Westchester County Executive George Latimer in New York's 16th Congressional District, where CBS News projects Latimer has won.

CBS News also projects Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has won in New York's 14th Congressional District, beating challenger Martin Dolan, and former CNN political analyst John Avlon has won the Democratic nomination in the 1st Congressional District on Long Island, defeating Stony Brook University professor emeritus Nancy Goroff.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press projects Larinda Hooks has won in the hotly contested Democratic primary for a Queens Assembly seat, beating former state senator and convicted felon Hiram Monserrate.

In the race for Westchester County district attorney, AP projects Susan Cacace has won, beating William Wagstaff and Adeel Mirza.

Am I registered to vote in New York?

New Yorkers can check their voter registration status online.

The deadline to register to vote in the June primary election was Saturday, June 15.

New Yorkers have until Oct. 26 to register to vote in the November general election.

What is the deadline for mail-in and absentee ballots in the New York primary election?

Registered voters requesting a mail-in or absentee ballot had to apply online by Saturday, June 15.

Mail-in and absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than June 25 and received by the County Board of Elections no later than July 2.

Mail-in and absentee ballots can also be dropped off at an early voting site between June 15-23 or at a polling location on June 25.
