New York City gets another coating of snow amid freezing temperatures
NEW YORK -- New York City is expected to see another 1 to 3 inches of snow Friday.
Streets and sidewalks may be slick, especially for the evening commute, with temperatures right around freezing.
New York City public schools are open as usual, but alternate side parking has been suspended.
CBS New York's Doug Williams caught up with a group of joggers early Friday morning in Central Park.
"It helps to decompress and de-stress and get ready to take on the day ahead," one of them said.
"I think they put salt everywhere, so it was pretty nice," another added.
He also heard from a dog owner who made sure her dog, Charlie, wore his booties.
"He's got his boots on, so we are good to go," she said. "Last year, he was a puppy, so he's only two. He was horrible with them last year, wanted them off, didn't put them on right. This year, for some reason, they went on perfect, I strapped them on around his ankles and he's good to go. He runs in the park, they don't come off."
The Department of Sanitation reminds property owners to keep their sidewalks clear.
"I like to think that maybe New Yorkers were a little bit out of practice, given that it hadn't snowed in 700 days, and maybe need to get the muscle memory back of what that responsibility feels like," Commissioner Jessica Tisch told CBS New York. "But we did have our enforcement agents out for the past few days, we wrote over 4,000 summonses."
