New York City OEM Commissioner Joseph Bruno Resigns
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The commissioner of the Office of Emergency Management in New York City is resigning less than a month into hurricane season.
Mayoral spokeswoman Marti Adams said Joseph Bruno will be stepping down on June 27.
Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed 70-year-old Bruno to the position in 2004.
Bruno played a large role in helping the city prepare for Superstorm Sandy, as well as several severe snowstorms.
The former judge and the city's fire commissioner began working in city government more than 40 years ago under Mayor John Lindsay.
Adams did not comment on if Mayor Bill de Blasio had chosen a successor.
