Study: Netflix, Hulu Users Spend 19 Minutes A Day Searching For Something To Watch

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ever feel like you spend more time searching for what you want to watch on your favorite streaming channels rather than actually watching the show?

There's an increasing number of streaming services from Netflix and Hulu, to Amazon and Google Play. On average, viewers spend 19 minutes a day looking for something to watch, according to a survey by Rovi.

Now, there are some new apps that can help you search in a fraction of the time, CBS2's Kenneth Craig reported.

Reelgood is one of a handful of apps that allows users to plug in a particular movie, show or genre to search all of their streaming services at once to show users where it's available.

"It will show you if it's playing only one service, if it's playing on multiple services, or in some cases, if it's something really rare, you'll find out it's not anywhere yet," Dan Ackerman, CNET section editor, said.

Apple built in a search function in its new Apple TV. Roku has done the same.
