Service on 1/2/3 subway fully restored after collision, derailment

Full service restored on 1/2/3 subway line after derailment

NEW YORK -- Commuters are finally able to get back on track - full service on the 1/2/3 subway line has been restored.

Full service was restored early Sunday morning.

Saturday, the MTA said crews had repaired and moved the subway train that derailed at 96th Street earlier this week.

Officials said a vandalized 1 train had to be taken out of service, and it collided with a train carrying passengers Thursday afternoon. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what went wrong.

Since Thursday, the 1/2/3 lines, as well as the 4 and 5, have been impacted, creating headaches for commuters.
