MTA Postpones Planned Weekend Work On MetroCard Machines
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Change of plans!
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has decided to postpone this weekend's planned work on MetroCard machines for a week.
"We heard you all loud and clear. We're going to postpone this weekend's planned MetroCard machine upgrade for a week while we work to shorten the process and more clearly answer customer concerns. More to come on Monday," they tweeted Thursday.
The MTA took heat for not giving riders enough notice.
A tweet Wednesday night let customers know the machines were going to be down for a software upgrade between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.
During that time, the MTA warned customers that the machines may not accept credit or debit card purchases, meaning they would have had to top off their MetroCards ahead of time or use cash.
