9 families displaced after overnight fire at Mount Vernon apartment complex
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Nine families have been displaced from their homes after a fire broke out overnight in Westchester County.
Firefighters responded shortly after 2 a.m. to an apartment complex at 24 Mount Vernon Avenue in Mount Vernon.
The building was so badly damaged, it will need to be demolished.
No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross is assisting nine families who have been displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
