Autopsy: Body In Hudson River Is Ian Jones, Boyfriend Of Annie Lennox's Daughter
STAATSBURG, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The body of a man found in the Hudson River after a kayaking accident is that of the boyfriend of Annie Lennox's daughter, according to authorities.
Dutchess County Sheriff's Capt. John Watterson said an autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed the body is that of 32-year-old Ian Jones. Watterson said Jones' death is considered an accidental drowning.
"Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mr. Jones' family and friends during this difficult time," he said.
Jones and 22-year-old Tali Fruchtmann started kayaking early Saturday when the kayak overturned near the historic Mills Mansion in Staatsburg, Watterson said.
Neither paddler was wearing a life jacket. Jones' body was found Monday afternoon near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club. Fruchtmann was rescued by boaters.
She posted a statement on Instagram saying, "My heart is shattered. My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime & creativity, the LOVE & LIGHT of my life is no longer with me."
"I know that he is so so happy that I was safely rescued," she said. "Let us honor & celebrate this beautiful soul & keep following the light."
Fruchtmann's mother is Annie Lennox, a Scottish singer who first gained success with Dave Stewart as the Eurythmics in the 1980s.
