NYPD: 3 Charged In Midwood Robbery That Ended In Police-Involved Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery in Brooklyn that ended in a police-involved shooting and one suspect hurt.

Police said 25-year-old Alan Francois, 39-year-old Altariq Mciver and 25-year-old Marquis Riley were all charged with robbery on Thursday.

In addition, Mciver was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and Riley was charged with criminal trespass, police said.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. Thursday when police were called to a robbery at a Verizon store on Avenue P in Midwood.

Police said two of the suspects walked into the store armed with a gun and announced a robbery. They then ordered all the employees to the back room before stealing cell phones.

As the suspects fled in a black Jeep, a store employee chased after them and called 911, police said. Officers then spotted the vehicle and began chasing the suspects.

Police chased them to East 14th Street at Avenue O, where the suspects crashed into a parked car and fled on foot, police said.

That's when police said one of the suspects turned towards the officers with a gun in his hand. One of the officers then opened fire, hitting the suspect twice in the torso.

That suspect was taken to the hospital in stable condition. It's unclear if one of the suspects identified by police was the one who was hurt.

Police said two guns were also recovered at the scene.
