Microsoft Donates Office Software To 480,000 CUNY Students
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Software giant Microsoft is donating a half a billion dollars' worth of software to City University of New York students.
As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, Microsoft is donating its Office products to 480,000 students free of charge.
"Each student will be able to download five copies of Office on their client device, whether it's a PC or a Mac or any type of computer," Microsoft's Richard Langford said.
CUNY Chancellor James Milliken explained why the free software is so important to his student population in particular.
"Forty percent of our students hail from families with a household income of $20,000 or less," he said.
